How I Lost 29 Pounds in Two Months, And How You Can Too!

Two months ago, I stepped on the scale and saw a number that made me pause, 231.9 pounds. But instead of feeling discouraged, I felt victorious. Just eight weeks prior, I weighed over 260 pounds. In that short time, I had lost 29 pounds, and the best part? I never felt deprived, starved, or exhausted. In fact, I feel better than I have in decades.

If you’ve ever struggled with weight loss and felt like nothing works, I’ve been there. At 60-plus years old, I knew I had to try something different. The key wasn’t extreme workouts or endless calorie counting. Instead, I found a simple, sustainable approach that completely changed the game for me. And if I can do it, so can you!

My Exercise Routine: Walking My Way to Weight Loss

Let’s talk about exercise. First, let me be honest: Exercise alone didn’t help me lose weight. A trainer once told me that to burn enough calories for weight loss at my age, I’d have to run the equivalent of a marathon every day. That wasn’t realistic (or appealing!).

Instead, I embraced something simple: walking. Our family adopted an adult dog who needed frequent walks, which gave me the perfect reason to get moving. At first, I started with multiple short walks throughout the day. Over time, I transitioned to two longer, brisker walks and a few short strolls. Now, my routine includes:

A three-mile morning walk

A three-mile evening walk

Three shorter walks adding up to about ¾ of a mile

I didn’t start at this intensity, I gradually built up my distance and pace. If you’re looking for a low-impact, easy way to introduce movement into your life, walking is a great place to start. The best part? It’s free, easy on the joints, and doesn’t require a gym membership.

My Diet: A Modified Carnivore Approach

While walking helped me build an active routine, the real weight loss came when I changed what I ate. I turned to the Carnivore Diet, which focuses on animal-based nutrition while eliminating plant-based foods. But I didn’t follow it in its strictest form, I made modifications to fit my lifestyle.

Here’s what I eat:

Primarily meat, fish, eggs, and limited dairy

Vegetables twice a week for variety

Minimal processed foods, allowing small exceptions for convenience

Grass-fed and organic meats when possible, but not stressing over perfection

I was shocked by how effective this approach was. The first three days were tough, I craved carbs and sugar like crazy! But once my body adjusted, those cravings disappeared, and I started feeling better than ever.

The Benefits I Didn’t Expect

Losing weight was just the beginning. The benefits of my new lifestyle went far beyond the scale:

Better Sleep

I used to wake up multiple times at night. Now, I sleep deeply and wake up refreshed.

Steady Energy Levels

No more sugar crashes! My energy remains consistent throughout the day.

Improved Mood

I feel more balanced, less irritable, and generally happier.

No More Calorie Counting

I simply eat until I’m satisfied, without stressing about numbers.

At first, I worried about eliminating carbs, but after a few days, my body adapted, and I felt stronger than ever. This way of eating has been so freeing, no obsessive tracking, no hunger pangs, just simple, nourishing food.

Addressing Health Concerns

Of course, I’m keeping an eye on my health. With a history of high cholesterol, I make sure to monitor my bloodwork and consult my doctor regularly. While I’m not diabetic, diabetes runs in my family, so metabolic health is a top priority. So far, I feel great, but I’m staying mindful and making informed decisions along the way.

This Isn’t Just About Weight Loss, It’s About Feeling Amazing

This journey wasn’t about vanity or fitting into a certain clothing size. It was about reclaiming my health, energy, and confidence. Traditional dieting and exercise weren’t working for me anymore, so I had to find something new. And it worked!

Will I tweak my approach over time? Absolutely. I plan to incorporate strength training and continue refining my eating habits. But for now, I’m enjoying the incredible benefits of my new lifestyle.

Final Thoughts: What You Can Take From My Journey

If you’re struggling with weight loss and feeling stuck, don’t be afraid to try something different. Whether it’s walking more, cutting out processed foods, or experimenting with a new eating style, small, consistent changes can lead to big results.

Find a form of movement you enjoy

It doesn’t have to be intense. Walking worked for me, and it could work for you too.

Simplify your diet

Less processed food, more whole, nourishing ingredients.

Listen to your body

Give it time to adjust and pay attention to how you feel.

I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next, and if you’re on your own path to better health, I hope my experience gives you inspiration. Here’s to feeling great, staying active, and living life to the fullest!

Have you tried walking for weight loss? Have you experimented with a low-carb or carnivore diet? I’d love to hear your experiences or comments!
